Investing in Prevention: Goliath Tactical strategy for addressing gun violence in schools

In recent years, gun violence in schools has become a major concern for parents, teachers, and students alike. While there is no one solution to this complex issue, investing in programs that fund mental health care providers, school resource officers/police, and community crisis workers can help prevent violence - specifically gun violence - in our schools.

Mental Health Care Providers

By investing in programs that fund mental health care providers, we can identify students who may be at risk of harming themselves or others. Mental health care providers can work with students to address any underlying mental health issues, provide counseling services, and create a plan for ongoing support. This can help prevent students from reaching a crisis point where they feel the need to turn to violence.

School Resource Officers/Police

School resource officers and police officers can work with schools to create a safe and secure environment for students. They can provide ongoing safety training to students and staff, conduct regular safety drills, and monitor any suspicious activity. This not only helps prevent violence but also helps students feel safe and secure in their learning environment.

Community Crisis Workers

Community crisis workers can provide ongoing support to students and their families, helping to prevent crises before they occur. They can work with schools to create a support system for students who may be experiencing stress or trauma, and provide resources for families who may be struggling. By providing early intervention and support, community crisis workers can help prevent students from reaching a point where they feel the need to turn to violence.

Investing in Prevention

Investing in programs that fund mental health care providers, school resource officers/police, and community crisis workers is crucial for preventing gun violence in our schools. These programs can help identify and address potential issues before they become crises, create a safe and secure learning environment, and provide ongoing support for students and their families.

It's important to remember that preventing gun violence in schools is a complex issue that requires a multi-faceted approach. In addition to investing in these programs, we must also address issues such as gun control, bullying, and access to mental health care.

Together, we can work towards a future where our schools are safe, secure, and free from gun violence. By investing in prevention, we can create a better and safer environment for our students to learn and grow.
